Have you ever went camping in a yurt?  Do you know what a yurt is?  I didn't until today.

A yurt is defined as follows:

A circular tent of felt or skins on a collapsible framework, used by nomads in Mongolia, Siberia, and Turkey.

Muskegon State Park, in my home state of Michigan, is offering yurt camping this year!

Yurts are made to easily set up and take down, but the camping park made this one permanent.  It opened in January 2013.

It has 2 homemade log bunk beds,  mattresses, chairs, table, and lanterns.  Outside the yurt is a picnic table and fire ring for camping meals.

Camping in a yurt can be expensive at $60 a night with an $8 registration fee, however, cots are also available to accommodate 7 people comfortably.

So grab your friends and you can camp in a yurt for less than $10 a night!

Visit Mlive for more information and reservation info for camping in a yurt!

Happy Camping!
